چکیده
Background Cross sectional research shows that nearly half of the individuals with osteoarthritis (OA) experience fatigue and over one third severe (1). However, few studies have addressed unpredictable fluctuating course in OA including occurrence overwhelming as evidenced from qualitative (2). In-depth understanding its determinants may inform clinical decision making treatment. Objectives To explore 1) 2) variability daily experienced knee OA. Methods A diary design. 73 participants a self-reported diagnosis aged >40 years possession Smartphone completed baseline questionnaire on demographics, health status (EQ5D-VAS), self-efficacy (Arthritis Self-Efficacy Scale (ASES)). This was followed by assessments regard to fatigue, severity, pain, sleep, perceived exertion physical activities (PEPA) 7 day period. yes/no format used assess numeric rating scale (NRS, 0-10) PEPA. The assessed calculating standard deviation (SD) per participant this Comparisons between without were conducted unpaired t-tests Pearson’s chi-square tests where appropriate. Results 47 included analysis. Overwhelming occurred at least once 26 (55%) mean= 2.7 (SD= 1.4) Differences are displayed Table 1. Energy recovery in individuals with knee osteoarthritis.
OBJECTIVE Pathological gaits have been shown to limit transfer between potential (PE) and kinetic (KE) energy during walking, which can increase locomotor costs. The purpose of this study was to examine whether energy exchange would be limited in people with knee osteoarthritis (OA). METHODS Ground reaction forces during walking were collected from 93 subjects with symptomatic knee OA (self-s...
